Special Applications
Design and manufacture all kinds of SF6 use and management system
Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is a gas with excellent electrical insulation properties, making it ideal for use in high-voltage applications such as gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and circuit breakers. Some special applications of SF6 gas include:
Insulation of Electrical equipment: SF6 gas is used to the insulation properties of electrical equipment such as cables, transformers, and switchgear.
Medical applications: SF6 gas is used as a contrast agent for ultrasound imaging of the heart and liver. It is also used in retinal surgery to help separate the layers of the retina.
Particle physics experiments: SF6 gas is used as a high-voltage insulating medium in CERN particle accelerators such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
Magnesium production: SF6 gas is used as a protective atmosphere in magnesium casting processes, preventing magnesium oxide formation.
Tracer gas: SF6 gas can be used as a tracer gas in leak detection and airflow studies.
Industrial processes: SF6 gas is used in various industrial techniques, such as plasma etching and cleaning of silicon wafers in the semiconductor industry.
Fire suppression: SF6 gas has been used as a fire suppression agent in specific applications, such as electrical transformers.
It is important to note that SF6 gas has a high global warming potential (GWP), and its use is regulated by international agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement. Efforts are being made to find alternatives to SF6 gas for some applications to reduce its environmental impact.
